There’s a new way to do what you do well for the glory of God and somewhere strategic for the mission of God—and you don’t have to leave your job to do it! The Summit’s Global Cities Initiative mobilizes teams of students, professionals, and retirees to work to make disciples in some of the most influential cities in the world, including Mumbai, London, Dubai, Shanghai, and Kuala Lumpur.
In the last year, 20 people from the Summit have moved or are in the process of moving their career overseas as part of GCI. They include Cleo, a teacher who will take her career to Dubai this year and labor with a local church plant to make disciples, and Chris and Rebekah*, who are moving their family of six to Asia to join a team reaching upper-level business people after Chris transferred his job within his technology company. Then there is John, who is not moving but decided to expand his business to Asia and is hiring a Summit member to move there to run the business and make disciples with a Summit team.
“A lot of people have been telling me, ‘Oh, you’re so brave for moving across the world!” said Eva, who transferred her job overseas last June to join the Summit’s church planting team in Singapore. “God has promised multiple times in Scripture that he will use even the least of us. It’s less what you can do and more, ‘Let’s see what God can do and how God can use you and how God is going to grow his kingdom.’”
