The Bible emphasizes at least five identities that clarify what it means for us to be disciples. In the New Testament, disciples of Jesus are worshipers, family members, servants, stewards, and witnesses.
As worshipers, disciples of Jesus seek to know, love, and obey God above all else.
As family members, disciples of Jesus live with the local church as family.
As servants, disciples give of themselves for the good of others.
As stewards, disciples of Jesus use their time, talent and treasure to know God and make him known.
As witnesses, a disciple of Jesus proclaims Christ in word and deed.
When we believe the gospel of Jesus Christ, he calls us to trust him with our lives and become his disciples.
Discipleship is growing in the five identities and leading others to do the same.
Jesus sends us to make disciples who make disciples who make disciples.
